About us

The Municipal Association Swedish Ambulance Air performs and coordinates air ambulance missions for all 21 regions in Sweden. Swedish Ambulance Air owns six air ambulances manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. The standby bases are located at the airports in Umeå, Stockholm/Arlanda, and Gothenburg/Landvetter. Orders are received and missions are coordinated at the coordination center in Umeå, where the office is also located. The operation maintains readiness around the clock, every day of the year, to initiate an air ambulance mission at short notice. The operational area includes geographical Europe, parts of North Africa, and the North Atlantic.

Job Description

The Air Coordination Center (FKC) at Swedish Ambulance Air is responsible for, among other things, medical prioritization, flight planning, and coordination of air ambulance missions. FKC is staffed around the clock every day of the year, which means that the position involves shift work. The air coordinators, together with medical personnel in FKC, flight crews, technicians, and medical personnel on board, ensure that flight programs and missions are carried out in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

The tasks of an air coordinator include resource planning, flight planning, flight following, and reporting. As an air coordinator, you make decisions and plan operations considering weather conditions, technical status of the aircraft, service regulations for flight personnel, and airport opening hours. While a daily program must be planned and executed, FKC must ensure that resources are available for emergency missions.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience in planning and coordinating operations. This could include work in other similar operational areas such as SOS alarm operator or RLC operator, or other similar roles where planning and coordination have been your main tasks. Additionally, if you have experience in aviation and competence in that area, we consider it an advantage.

All employees undergo internal training for the role of coordinator.

To thrive in the role of air coordinator, you must have a good ability to work and make decisions in pressured situations while juggling many tasks simultaneously. You are structured and meticulous in your work approach. You need to be self-assured and not afraid to make independent decisions when necessary. The organization is new and under development, and our ambition is to create a pleasant and safe workplace with a good working environment. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is a good team player with strong collaboration skills and who wants to contribute to the development work at the workplace. As a person, you are responsible and enjoy working in a team and can easily learn new IT systems.

You should have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both written and spoken. The position is security classified, which means you must be able to present a clean criminal record as a condition for employment.
